Any existing teeth will be extracted and replaced with a complete denture to your upper and lower gums.

Partial Dentures
When only a few teeth are missing, a partial denture will be clipped onto the natural teeth for a secure fitting. The base will be made using acrylic, nylon, or metal with the false teeth secured on top.
Implant Retained Dentures
Placing 2-4 implants into the lower jaw and at least 4 to the upper jaw, the denture will be fitted on top for a secure but removable fitting.

How many appointments will be required for denture treatment?
Regarding complete and partial dentures, appointments can vary between 4 and 6.
During your initial consultation we will discuss the treatment and offer guidance on options available for you to achieve your desired result.
Your second appointment will be a comprehensive treatment planning consultation with Duncan. He will conduct any necessary X-Rays and explain to you in detail all of the options available.
We will follow this up with a full treatment report which we will review together.
When treatment commences, Duncan will numb the area and remove the necessary teeth – depending on the type of denture you have chosen.
Then, we will take impressions and measurements of your gums to create the perfect fit for your dentures.
Regarding complete dentures, you may choose to have a set of immediate dentures until the final product is ready – it can take up to 8 weeks for your gums to heal following extraction.
During your final appointment, your denture will be fitted.
Regarding implant retained dentures, treatment can involve two surgeries and take 5-7 months to complete.
How long do dentures last for?
Maintaining that there are regular checkups with good oral hygiene, dentures can last 5 to 8 years.
How do I care for my dentures?
You will be advised on whether you need to remove your dentures at night. If you do remove your dentures, they should be kept moist in water or an overnight denture cleaning solution. You should care for your dentures like you would regular teeth by brushing twice daily and removing any plaque. Unclean dentures can lead to bad breath, gum disease and tooth decay.
Keeping your mouth clean is just as important when you wear dentures.
You should brush your remaining teeth, gums and tongue every morning and evening to keep your mouth healthy.
