What Is A Single Tooth Implant?

A single-tooth implant is designed to replace a missing or damaged tooth with an artificial tooth root (implant) and a custom-made dental crown. The implant is typically made of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone to provide a sturdy foundation for the crown.

Single-tooth implants are a popular option for people who have lost a tooth due to injury, decay, or other dental issues. They offer several advantages over traditional bridges and dentures, including improved appearance, durability, and functionality.

Why Do You Need A Single Tooth Implant?

Single-tooth implants can be a natural, effective solution to missing teeth with numerous benefits. Here are some reasons why you should consider single-tooth dental implants:

Single Tooth Implant Process

Consultation and Planning

When enquiring about a single-tooth implant at Green Square Dental, you’ll be invited to attend an implant consultation with our dental implant practitioner to discuss your options and determine if you’re a suitable candidate.

If you are a suitable candidate, we will take X-rays and possible CT scans of your mouth to assess your jawbone density and plan the placement of the implant. We also may take impressions of your teeth to create a model of your mouth.

The Procedure

During your procedure, you will be provided with local anaesthetic or IV sedation so that you don’t feel any discomfort or pain throughout the procedure. The implant is then surgically placed into your jawbone, where it will fuse with the bone over a period of several months. You’ll need to wait several months for the implant to fully integrate with your jawbone before taking the next step. Finally, the implant will be attached to the new crown or bridge to complete your new smile.

Aftercare

You may experience some minor discomfort, swelling, and bruising once the single-tooth implant is in place, although this shouldn’t last too long. These symptoms can be managed with over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen and paracetamol; however, you will be advised on this at your appointment.

To ensure that your single-tooth implant stays strong and healthy, you should practise good oral hygiene by brushing your implant along with your natural teeth twice a day and having regular checkups

If you experience any problems with your implant, get in touch with us, and we will be able to advise you as soon as possible.
