Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning facial is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses a tool to gently remove the top layers of dead skin cells and fine hairs from the face. This procedure is designed to exfoliate the skin, minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and give your skin a fresher and brighter look.

How Does Dermaplaning Work?

Dermaplaning is performed using a sterile scalpel, which is angled at 45 degrees. The skin is gently pulled tightly and lightly glided over with the tool in an upwards motion. During this procedure, the outer layers of the skin will be lightly scraped, removing dead skin cells and fine hairs, commonly known as peach fuzz.

Benefits of Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning can help reduce wrinkles and fine lines by exfoliating the skin and removing dead skin cells that can make the skin appear dull and aged. Removing these dead skin cells stimulates new skin cells and collagen production, improving your skin texture, reducing wrinkles, and making the skin look more youthful.

Removing the dead skin cells and fine hair from your skin’s surface can make your skin appear more even and allow products to penetrate more deeply. This is because dead skin cells and peach fuzz can create a barrier that prevents skincare products from fully absorbing into the skin.

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive gentle treatment which is suitable for all skin tones. It is a treatment where you can sit back and relax, and it involves no harsh chemicals, tugging, pulling or scratching on the skin.

After receiving dermaplaning treatment, you will notice immediate results as the top layer of dead skin cells is removed, leaving your skin smooth and glowing. Additionally, this treatment requires no downtime, meaning you can resume your normal daily activities immediately.

Dermaplaning can effectively reduce the appearance of acne scars by removing the top layer of skin, which rejuvenates the skin. However, if you have current, active acne breakouts, it’s crucial to avoid dermaplaning as the procedure could easily spread bacteria and cause further breakouts.

Dermaplaning is typically combined with other cosmetic treatments, such as chemical peels, to enhance the overall results. Dermaplaning removes the dead skin cells and fine hairs from the skin’s surface, allowing the chemical peel to penetrate deeper. This can help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing.

Dermaplaning FAQs

Does Dermaplaning Hurt?

Dermaplaning is a procedure which is typically painless and relaxing. Some patients may experience mild redness and sensitivity following the treatment. However, these symptoms are usually mild and short-lived, but if you have any concerns, please get in touch with us.

Does Dermaplaning Make Hair Grow Back Thicker?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive treatment that does not cause increased hair thickness. This is a myth, as many people think that shaving causes thicker hair growth. Shaving can create blunt tips on the hairs, which may be perceived as increased thickness, but this is untrue. Dermaplaning involves removing very fine hair in a delicate way which will have little to no impact on how the hairs grow back.
